These pictures were taken of a Jeanneau 2009 Sunfast that I sold and delivered out of San Diego, CA. I tried to capture the whole experience from what it looks like when the yacht is delivered to the boat yard to the test sail on delivery day.

The second half of the pictures were taken in Annapolis, MD where we first sea trialed a demo boat in freezing conditions from snow to sun with high winds blowing up to 25 knots. It was a great day to see how the vessel sailed in the different conditions.

New Jeanneau 409 Steals the Show in Annapolis

The new Jeanneau 409 drew quite a crowd at the Annapolis Boat Show last week. It was standing room only at this year as a record number of showgoers cruised up to get a look at the sleek new yacht. Designed by Philippe Briand and the Jeanneau design team, the Jeanneau 409 is getting so much attention that Jeanneau's production teams are scrambling to find ways to meet demand so buyers can have their boat up and sailing for next summer.

"One saving grace is that the 409 will be produced here in the United States at our production facility in Marion, SC," said Jeanneau America President Paul Fenn. "This will add greatly to our ability to meet demand for the boat and get it to customers by April and May when sailing season starts."

The Jeanneau 409 has an introductary price of $194,000. It is also a candidate for the 2011 Best Boats Award from Sail Magazine and is a candidate for the Boat of the Year Contest sponsored by Cruising World Magazine.

We spotted a very special guest at the Long Beach Boat Show last weekend...none other than Captain Ron himself! Kurt Russell was checking out some boats at the show on Saturday, along with Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson. Before we could score a picture, another boat show guest spotted him, and yelled "Captain Ron! Look, it's Captain Ron!" and he took off.

It's just around the corner! Join us at the Long Beach Boat show on Thursday, September 9 thru Sunday, September 12. It's the West Coast's largest in water sail and power boat show! We're debuting the new Jeanneau 53, 45ds, and new 42ds, as well as the Hunter 50cc, 45ds and the new 39.

We'll also be at the Saturday Evening Marina Green Party, sponsored by Lattitudes & Attitudes magazine. There will be pizza, beer, wine, and other goodies! See you there!

Good Times on Water at the Mission Bay Raft Up!

CruisingYachts had our first ever Mission Bay Raft Up last weekend. We had more than 11 boats come by and tie up for the weekend. Cloudy skies didn't stop us from having fun...we had live music, food catered by Ortegas (including margaritas), and some fun water toys from Seaforth Rentals like kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Needless to say, we had a blast! Thanks to everyone who came, and if you didn't make it out, don't miss out next year!

Raft Up in Mission Bay August 13-15

Mark your calendars! We're heading to Mission Bay for a raft-up and weekend of good cheer. This weekend is for all customers of Cruising Yachts and former H&S Yacht Sales to thank you for allowing us to help you fulfill your boating dreams.

Mission Bay is an ideal destination for a summer weekend. An easy 2 hour sail around Point Loma and up the coast places you in the calm, warm, and picturesque waters of one of California's most beautiful bays. We'll be rafting up together and sharing food, fun and refreshments throughout the weekend. Be sure to bring your dinghy and water toys such as paddleboards and kayaks, and we'll have a few more--compliments of Seaforth Boat Rental.

Wireless Man Overboard Safety System

This is a really cool product. The Raymarine Lifetag is like your personal, wireless, man overboard system. Lifetag moniters up to 16 tagged crew members ensuring they are safe and sound onboard. Each lifetag pendant broadcasts a code back to the base station, telling it that the user is "safe." If a man falls overboard, the link between the pendant and the station is automatically broken, and the alarm is raised on the boat. The pendant can easily be fastened to your life jacket.

The Hunter 39 was designed as the successor to the 38, Hunter's breakthrough model that combined comfort, outstanding performance and easy handling. This new boat retains many of the positive characteristics of the 38, but makes major improvements in several key areas. The deck profile and hull shape are sleek and modern, and the extended hull improves sailing performance. The cockpit features twin wheels for the ultimate in comfort, visibility and control, and transom access from the roomy cockpit is wide and safe. Below, the Hunter 39 retains the popular two stateroom/one head layout, but several key enhancements improve function and appearance.
